Indications / Application Notes
Acute allergic rhinitis, acute respiratory infections with rhinitis, sinusitis, hay fever; otitis media (to reduce swelling of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx). Preparing the patient for diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages.
Hypersensitivity, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, thyrotoxicosis, surgical interventions on the meninges (history), pregnancy, children age (up to 6 years)
Mode of application
Intranasally. Adults and children over 6 years of age: 2-3 drops in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day. Do not use more than 3 times a day.
When used, it can cause a burning sensation in the nose and throat, local irritation, paresthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion, dryness of the nasal mucosa. Allergic reactions are possible. Rarely - swelling of the nasal mucosa, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, headache, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, visual impairment; depression (with prolonged use in high doses). If symptoms occur, stop using the drug and consult a doctor. Overdose In case of accidental poisoning with xylometazoline when ingested, mydriasis, nausea, vomiting, cyanosis, fever, spasms, tachycardia, cardiac arrhythmia, collapse, cardiac arrest, hypertension, pulmonary edema, respiratory failure, mental disorders, suppression of central nervous system function, accompanied by accompanying sleep are possible. decrease in body temperature, bradycardia, hypotension, apnea, coma. Treatment: gastric lavage, the appointment of activated charcoal, if necessary, mechanical ventilation. To reduce blood pressure, iv phentolamine slowly at a dose of 5 mg or orally at a dose of 100 mg. Vasopressor drugs are contraindicated. If necessary, antipyretic and anticonvulsants are used.
